From Supplier Data to Audit-Ready LCA: What We Built with Rise-X

If you've built an LCA or environmental report for a complex supply chain, you know the drill. Weeks spent chasing supplier data over email. Numbers copied into spreadsheets. A chain of evidence assembled by hand and held together with good faith.

It works, until someone asks how the carbon footprint was calculated. An offtaker running due diligence. A procurement team checking your numbers against their own. An auditor preparing for regulatory compliance.

At that point, "we got this figure from an email the supplier sent in March" won't cut it.

The problem is compounding.

Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards are taking effect in Australia with compliance obligations for companies and Directors. EU Battery Regulation Carbon Performance Classes go live for EV batteries with an impending timeline. CBAM requires embedded emissions data at the border. Digital product passports demand product-level transparency traceable to the raw material. Each of these needs the same underlying supplier data, but most teams are collecting it separately for each one. Every cycle, they re-request. Re-enter. Re-verify.

What Minviro and Rise-X set out to fix.

With the support of Powering Australia, we developed a proof-of-concept that connects auditable supplier data collection, environmental and social governance modelling, and reporting.

Rise-X's platform handles the upstream collection. Suppliers respond through structured, auditable workflows. Ownership, evidence, and approvals are captured at every step. Suppliers don't need an account on the platform to participate.

That verified data feeds into Minviro's XYCLE platform for process-level LCA modelling. Results are then pushed back to Rise-X, where reports and digital product passports are generated.

How the integrated workflow runs:

  1. Collect. Request ESG and GHG data from any supplier through auditable templates on Rise-X. Three request types cover onboarded suppliers, ad-hoc questions, and structured templates.
  2. Model. Verified supplier inputs feed into XYCLE, where they're used in ISO 14067 and EF 3.1 compliant life cycle assessments.
  3. Report. XYCLE results are pushed to Rise-X, producing GHG Protocol Scope 1, 2, and 3 disclosures, regulatory submissions, digital product passports, and product-level carbon footprints.
  4. Reuse. Every supplier response is stored as a reusable record. Next quarter, the next customer request, the next regulatory filing: the data is already there.

What comes out the other end:

LCA-backed carbon footprints with a full audit trail from supplier record to final number. Digital product passport data structures. Regulatory-ready reporting. All from one source.

The POC has been tested with industry partners across the battery and critical minerals value chain, with feedback shaping the next phase.

We're now scoping Stage 2 and looking for companies who want to pilot the integrated workflow with their own supply chains. If your team spends more time collecting and defending supplier data than acting on it, we should talk.
