Powering Australia, Minviro and Rise-X mark the first milestone in ESG supply chain initiative.

Minviro
In early 2025, Powering Australia, Minviro and Rise-X launched a collaborative initiative to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the energy transition: enabling practical, secure, and credible ESG and traceability reporting across battery supply chains.
As ESG reporting obligations become more complex and expectations increase from governments, investors, and downstream customers, there is a need for scalable solutions that support transparency without adding unnecessary administrative burden. This project is designed to meet that need.
Progress to Date
The initiative has successfully reached its first milestone, with early work laying the foundation for a practical ESG and traceability platform. These initial steps were guided by input from stakeholders across the supply chain, ensuring the platform is being shaped by real-world needs.
Attention is now turning to the next phase of development, which will introduce reporting and data-sharing functionality to improve transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Industry Participation
This initiative is strengthened by the involvement of industry participants across the battery value chain. We have engaged with 30+ companies from mining, refining, and manufacturing, as well as downstream OEMs and regulatory representatives, are contributing valuable insights to ensure the platform is practical and relevant.
We would like to thank our participating businesses, including Hatch, PLS, Mining3, Neometals, Tres Works, and Vulcan Energy Resources for their contributions. Their perspectives are helping shape the reporting modules and data-sharing workflows to reflect real-world challenges and opportunities.
About the Project
This initiative brings together expertise in life cycle assessment, digital infrastructure, and supply chain collaboration to create a practical ESG and traceability platform.
The platform is being developed to help industry participants securely share data, align with evolving regulations, and meet growing expectations from governments, investors, and customers. Its design reflects the input of stakeholders across the battery value chain, ensuring that it addresses operational realities while supporting transparency and efficiency.
Why It Matters
The benefits of this initiative extend across the supply chain:
- For governments: improved visibility and oversight.
- For industry participants: streamlined reporting, traceability of materials and enhanced trust.
- For buyers and investors: confidence in responsible, sustainable sourcing.
Looking Ahead
In the months ahead, the initiative will continue to evolve through close collaboration with industry participants. The project team remains focused on developing a practical solution that meets regulatory expectations, supports operational efficiency, and provides confidence to governments, suppliers, and buyers alike.
